yesterday night I went to a pub in headingly called the brudenell social club, to see a little known band called the black hands.
the thing is, the black hands weren't actually the black hands. the black hands were franz ferdinand. it was a secret gig that i've known about for months and haven't told anyone apart from a few people.
me and my mate felicity waited for an hour int he rain for the doors to open. we were pretty far back so i called my friend matt and we pushed in the queue with him. it wasn't good enough though, as they stopped letting people in when there were about 30 left. we were one of the 30. alot of people left then, but we hung around, trying to decide whether to go home or to go to the pub for a drink. suddenly, we heard some cheering amognst the other peopel still stood in the car park. alex and nick from the band had come out with acoustic guitars! alex said "we're sorry you didn't get in, but we'll play you a few songs". they playued cheating on you, darts of pleasure (during which they had to sing the riff, as the guitars weren't loud enough!), michael, auf whatever it's called, and matinee. it was incredible. i was stood right in front of them, as they were sat on an old car with no bonnet, and we all sang along during the german bit at the end of darts of pleasure. they stayed and chatted for a few minutes with everyone, and alex seemed happy to hear that iw as comgin to their gig the next night. it was amazing, and i went home glad that i didn't get into the actual gig.
tongiht i went to see them again, at the blank canvas in leeds. i was front row again, and alex mentioned the gig the night before and asked if anyone was there, i was the only person who shouted, and alex recognised me! he said "oh yes! it's you!". it was brilliant!
i took a couple of pictures but they aren't so clear. but you get the idea

and i got interviewed for the NME so everyone has to buy it next week and look for me.
