I was searching my mp3's by genre to see if I could find something to listen to that I hadn't for ages, and it came up with some strange things. Some people have weird ideas of genres...
Alternative - Smashing Pumpkins. Nick cave. Hole. Radiohead. So far, so normal.
Alternrock - Pixies. Manics. Radiohead.
Alt. Rock - Weezer. Radiohead. (Why one requires 3 different headings that mean the same thing, I will never know.)
Ambient Electronica - Barber's Adagio For Strings. (Neither ambient nor electronic, methinks)
Avant Garde - Xiu Xiu
Bass Assault (?) - N*E*R*D* (One day I shall download something else under this genre title. One day.)
Blues - Now I have alot of blues music on my computer, but none of it is here. This is all Morrissey, Elvis Costello, eels, Dexys Midnight Runners and some Peter Cook sketches I downloaded.
Christmas - John Lennon (It's a genre aswell as a family holiday? The NME really HAVE been at work!)
Classic Rock - The Thrills (?). Dusty Springfield (?). The Beach Boys (?).
Classical - Iggy Pop. MC5. (This gets odder)
Country - Johnny Cash bootlegs.
Dance - Bright Eyes. Scissor Sisters. (They're so similar!)
Disco - Nirvana. (Boogie!)
Electronica - Peaches. Nine Inch Nails. Aphex Twin. Aphex Twin remixies of Nine Inch Nails songs.
Emo - Good ol' Jimmy Eat World
Folk - Jeff Buckley. (Don't they get it? He's TRANS-GENRE!)
Gothic - One Siouxsie and the Banshees song.
House - Felix Da Housecat.
Indie - The Veils. Bright Eyes. Mew Xiu Xiu. (4 songs. And Indie's my favourite genre! Apart from Pop!)
Misc - The Avalanches. (No, they shoudl be labelled under "SampleComedyWeirdness")
New Wave - The Jam!!
New Age - Aphex Twin. (But the song is 6 years old!)
Oldies - Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley. Three different versions. (Hey, it's pretty much the only Elvis song I love, I have to have a fair few versions.)
Other - Anything from stand up Woody Aleen to Suede to Crazy In Love by Beyonce Knowles
Pop - The Go-Gos!! Kylie!! The Divine Comedy!! Sparks!! The Kinks!! Michael Jackson!! The new ace rachel Stevens song!! And Radiohead.
Punk - The Libertines. The Clash. Great.
Punk Rock - The Libertines. Lots and lots of 'em.
Rap - Outkast. Lil Kim. Missy Elliott. Public Enemy. (I'm not awfully fond of rap music apart from Outkast, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and Public Enemy. And Debbie Harry on 'Rapture')
Retro - HIT ME WITH YOUR RHYTHM STICK BY IAN DURY AND THE BLOCKHEADS!!!
Rock - Pulp. Feeder. Mansun. Graham Coxon. Pixies. Blur. A fair few others.
Rock/Pop - Franz ferdinand!! The Jam!! Supergrass!!
Showtunes - Morrissey. (Though I'm sure he'd beg to differ)
Soul - Aretha. Chuck Berry. Otis Redding. Al Green. Loads of stuff on Stax and Motown.
Soundtrack - new order and Edwyn Collins. (None of the stuff that's actually on soundtracks, though.)
I think I'll merge "Pop Rock" and "Pop" and add the Ian Dury track.
